The Brunet Foundation at the Public University of Navarre created the International Jaime Brunet Prize: promoting Human Rights in 1998 to promote and disseminate the protection of human rights and contribute to the eradication of degrading and inhumane treatment, and situations which violate the inherent right to dignity. The prize has since been awarded each year.

Over these years, the prize has been given to sixteen individuals and institutions of international standing, consolidating the prestige and public acknowledgement of the award.
